Please join us for a lecture Thurs., Jan. 29 by Asa Eger, entitled “The Fortress of the Figs: A Fortified Waystation on the Islamic-Byzantine Frontier in Turkey”. This lecture is sponsored by the Archaeological Institute of America – Triangle Society, and will take place at 5 pm in Murphey 112 on the UNC-CH campus. Prof. Eger (UNC-Greensboro, Department of History) is the author most recently of “The Islamic-Byzantine Frontier: Interaction and Exchange Among Muslim and Christian Communities” (I.B. Tauris, 2014) and numerous articles on the Islamic and Byzantine Near East. The lecture will be followed by a reception.
