Kelly McArdle has won the Society for Classical Studies Graduate Student Paper Award for her 2020 SCS paper, “Rethinking Julia Balbilla: Queer Poetics on the Memnon Colossus.” This award, presented by the Lambda Classical Caucus, acknowledges the best paper presented at the Annual Meeting by a graduate student on a topic related to gender and sexuality. The award, which comes with a small cash prize, will be announced and celebrated (virtually) on January 5th at the opening night reception of the 2021 Annual Meeting in Chicago, sponsored by the Women’s Classical Caucus, the Lambda Classical Caucus and the SCS Committee on Gender and Sexuality in the Profession.
