Emily Baragwanath will be the keynote speaker at the the upcoming U of Georgia undergraduate Classics conference, ’The Evolving Hero’, sponsored by Eta Sigma Phi, on March 26, 2022. Emily’s paper, ‘Supplanting Pandora: Rewriting Female Heroism in Greek Myth and History’, “will look at examples of women in Greek myth and history that refigure feminine beauty and sexuality into positive facets of leadership and heroism. What we will find is a competing understanding of heroism, one that challenges traditional assumptions about heroic virtue and what it entails.”
