October 26, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Classics announces its annual poetry reading.

Thursday, October 26, 2017
5:00 – 6:30 pm
Murphey Hall, Room 104

At 5:00 pm the competition for the Herington poetry prizes will take place.  Prizes of $250 will be awarded to the winners, one in Greek and one in Latin.  All undergraduates taking Greek or Latin at UNC are eligible.  Students who would like to compete should sign up with Kim Miles in Murphey 212.  She will have the passages chosen by the judges for the competition.  Note:  you do not need to memorize the passages, please have a copy of the text with you.  Previous winners are not eligible to compete, but are encouraged to attend.

After the competition the floor will be open to everyone who wants to read poetry (or elegant prose) in any language, with a time limit of 5 minutes.

We hope for a big turnout.  Come and read, listen, support your friends, and eat!

Refreshments will follow in the common room
