George Houston
Professor Emeritus of Classics
George W. Houston taught in the Department of Classics at Chapel Hill from 1969 until 2005, serving in the department at various times as Undergraduate Major Advisor, Director of Graduate Studies, and Chair. He was a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome (1967-69), directed the Classical Summer School of the American Academy in Rome in 1977-1979, and taught at the University of Bologna in the fall of 1982. His research interests lie in the areas of ancient libraries, Latin epigraphy, Latin literature, and Roman technology.
