Duke-UNC Pedagogy Workshop

As a follow up to the Duke-UNC Pedagogy Workshop held last spring, our Classics departments are working together again to hold a one day workshop on Sat., Nov. 15 in Murphey Hall 104.

Our guest speakers will be a recent UNC alumnus, Assistant Professor T.H.M. Gellar-Goad, and a recent Duke alumna, Assistant Professor Laury Ward. They will speak to us and answer questions about various aspects of transitioning from graduate school into teaching at a Liberal Arts College. We welcome you to come with questions, especially for the afternoon panels.

The tentative schedule for the day is as follows:

9:30-10:00am: Breakfast Provided
10:00-10:10: Introduction to the Workshop
10:10-10:50: First Speaker
10:50-11:00: Coffee Break
11:00-11:40: Second Speaker
11:45-12:15pm: Q&A Panel for both speakers
12:15-1:30: Lunch Break
1:30-2:15: Panel 1: The Interview Process
2:30-3:15: Panel 2: Adapting Teaching Experiences
3:30-4:15: Panel 3: Balancing Teaching, Research, and Family Obligations
4:30-5:15: Panel 4: Nuts & Bolts-Pedagogical Tips and Strategies
