Classics Lecture: David Konstan

Please join us 6:15 p.m. Wed., Feb. 11 for a lecture by David Konstan, titled “The Freedom to Feel Grateful: The View from Classical Antiquity” in Murphey 105. The New York University professor of Classics focuses on ancient Greek and Latin literature and classical philosophy, publishing diversely on emotions and value concepts in comedy and the novel and even ancient physics and atomic theory.
Some of his most recent works include Beauty: the fortunes of an ancient Greek idea (2014), Before forgiveness: the origins of a moral idea (2010), and The emotions of the ancient Greeks: studies in Aristotle and classical literature (2006).
Prof. Konstan’s visit to UNC is made possible by the Onassis Foundation (USA), and is a part of its University Seminars Program.
